![]() Virtual Memory of the process is backup up by RAM, SWAP, and real files on the disk, including libraries, resources, and opened files. So this Memory is only about how much memory your process think is using, but not really how much RAM memory it is using. Say you opened 10 files each 4GB in size, this process allocates address space for each of these files in Virtual Memory, but maybe you (this process) don't use those files Right Now, so they aren't in real memory (RAM). Not everything is in RAM, some of that memory can be backup up by the files on the disk, like SWAP, or just a regular file on the disk opened by this process.
